Netanyahu reportedly upset with Harris over VP’s Israel remarks as White House pushes back

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly expressed displeasure with remarks made by US Vice President Kamala Harris about Israel during her recent interview. The White House, however, has dismissed these reports, stating they maintain open and constructive dialogue with Israel.

VP Harris apparently suggested that while the two nations have shared interests in Middle East stability, issues may arise due to how Israel handles its relationship with the Palestinians. Her statements have been interpreted by some as a subtle criticism of the Israeli government’s policies towards Palestinians, especially in relation to the settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.

Although the White House has not publicly addressed Harris’ exact statements, a spokesperson claimed that the Biden administration continues to work closely with Netanyahu’s government to uphold mutual security interests and address shared challenges. The administration is also inspired by the strength and resilience of the Israeli people, the spokesperson added.

The Middle East dynamics continue to represent a sensitive topic for the US, considering the deeply intertwined relations and interests. Both nations, however, are expected to maintain their strong alliance, given the importance of their partnership in ensuring regional stability.
