House GOP maneuvers to portray Democrats as weak on China

The House GOP (Grand Old Party or Republican Party) has recently been utilizing strategic political tactics to paint their Democratic counterparts as lacking strength in their approach towards relations with China. The Republican Party has been emphasizing its strong stance on this issue by highlighting strict oversight measures, such as bills that would increase sanctions on China, commit more Pentagon resources to focusing on the Asian region, and others which would seek to hold China accountable for human rights abuses. Accusations regarding technological theft and intellectual property rights violations are also being levied. These maneuvers are designed to foster an image of Republicans as being more resolute in dealing with China, in an effort to gain a political edge. It remains to be seen how effective these tactics will be in shaping public opinion and ultimately shaping policy.
