Honda Motor Co announced that it is recalling nearly 43,000 of its hybrid cars in North America that could be affected by an electrical issue that could cause a vehicle fire.
The recall affects certain 2019-2020 Honda Insight, 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid, and 2019-2020 Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid vehicles. According to Honda, the issue is that these vehicles may have a faulty electrical power management system in the vehicle hybrid batteries, which could create an electric short that could lead to a fire.
Honda is aware of one fire caused by the issue and no related accidents or injuries. Honda is asking owners of these vehicles to bring them to a dealership for inspection and repair if they experience any issues. Affected vehicles will have their battery packs replaced free of charge.
