Family Dollar to close almost 1,000 stores

That’s correct. Dollar Tree, the parent company of the budget stores Family Dollar and Dollar Tree, announced in 2019 that it would close nearly 400 Family Dollar stores that year alone. Then, in early 2021, the company announced that it expects to close up to an additional 600 Family Dollar stores. This is part of Dollar Tree’s ongoing effort to revitalize the Family Dollar brand, including remodeling some locations, rebranding others as Dollar Tree stores, and closing those that they identify as underperforming. The exact locations and timing of the store closures have not been publicly announced.
