Crypto Expert Chosen by Erdogan for Turkey’s Central Bank Board

Ahmet Mercan is the crypto expert chosen by Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to join the Central Bank of Turkey’s Board of Directors. Mercan is the first cryptocurrency specialist to join the board, and is known for his expertise and experience in both finance and fintech. Mercan is a professor at Istanbul University and has over twenty-one years of experience in the banking industry. Businesses he has worked at include Halkbank, Denizbank and Credit Europe Bank. He will now work alongside other board members including Nihat Zeybekci, the former Minister of Economy of Turkey, and Ilker Ayci, the president of the Board of the World Turkish Business Council.
